Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily affects the lungs but can also impact other organs. This study aims to explore the implementation of nursing care for pulmonary tuberculosis patients experiencing ineffective airway clearance at Khidmat Sehat Afiat Regional Public Hospital (KiSA) in Depok. The method used in this scientific paper is a case study with a nursing process approach, which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Three nursing diagnoses were identified: ineffective airway clearance, ineffective breathing pattern, and nutritional deficit. To address these problems, effective coughing exercises were implemented. After three days (3x24 hours) of nursing interventions, evaluation results showed that the nursing problems were resolved, as evidenced by the achievement of goals including improved airway clearance, increased effectiveness of coughing, reduced sputum production, improved breathing pattern, stabilized respiratory rate, and decreased adventitious breath sounds. The implementation of effective coughing techniques proved successful in facilitating sputum clearance.
