Abstract
This study aims to explore the efforts of the Ummat Party as a new political party, particularly in facing the intense competition for seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Jakarta Electoral District II. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, enabling an in-depth explanation through data collection techniques such as interviews, literature reviews, and document analysis. The data sources for this study are derived from both primary and secondary sources. The study applies Peter Schroder's Political Strategy theory, Antonsen's concept of platforms, and Andrew Heywood's characteristics of political parties as its theoretical framework. The findings of this research indicate that, as a new political party, the Ummat Party has a clear understanding of its position and capacity to compete in the highly competitive Jakarta Electoral District II. However, this does not diminish the seriousness and goals set by the Ummat Party in the 2024 Legislative Election process. The party employs a well-researched and thorough strategy despite significant logistical limitations. The Ummat Party has undertaken critical steps to face its inaugural legislative election. Nevertheless, the party also acknowledges that, as a newcomer in its first election, introducing itself and building relationships with the public are equally high-priority agendas. By disseminating its party platform, the Ummat Party seeks to gauge public response and acceptance while fostering trust within the community.
