Abstract
Background: Osteoarthritis Genu (OA) is a progressive degenerative disorder affecting the knee joint, characterized by pain, limited range of motion, and decreased functional ability that may interfere with daily activities and overall quality of life. One of the important management approaches for this condition is physiotherapy. Objective: This case study aims to determine the physiotherapy management of a patient with Osteoarthritis Genu Dextra using Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Ultrasound, and exercise therapy. Methods: This case study was conducted on a 52-year-old female patient who underwent physiotherapy interventions consisting of TENS, Ultrasound, and an exercise therapy program including quadriceps strengthening, hamstring stretching, and active exercises. Evaluation was carried out using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), goniometer, and WOMAC Index. Result: After the physiotherapy interventions, the patient experienced reduced movement pain during walking and sit-to-stand transitions, increased quadriceps and hamstring muscle strengthening, improved active range of motion in knee flexion movement, and functional ability based on the WOMAC score. Conclusion: Physiotherapy management using TENS, Ultrasound, and exercise therapy can help reduce tenderness in the pes anserinus area and movement pain, improve active range of motion in knee flexion, increase quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength, and improve functional ability in patients with Osteoarthritis Genu.
