Abstract
Low birth weight (LBW) is the reason of the high infant death rate, which ranges from 60 to 80 percent. LBW affects around 20 million births globally each year, with 96% of these taking place in underdeveloped nations. Numerous factors, including maternal, fetal, and other factors, affect the incidence of LBW. The purpose of this study is to determine the variables linked to LBW in the Kedungwaringin Community Health Center's operational area in the Bekasi District. This study was carried out in October and November of 2024 using a cross-sectional design and observational analysis. Following the inclusion and exclusion procedure, the sample size, obtained through successive sampling, was 60 respondents. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data, and multiple logistic regression and chi-square tests were used to analyze the results. Maternal age (p-value = 0.381), parity (p-value = 1.000), and maternal education level (p-value = 0.254), were not linked to LBW, while maternal nutritional status (p-value = 0.011) and prenatal care (p-value = 0.049) were linked to LBW, according to the results of the bivariate analysis. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that maternal nutritional status was the most important risk factor for LBW (OR = 14.417; 95%CI = 0.579-5.952).
