Abstract

Background: Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that limits motor function and functional independence in children. Functional independence refers to the ability to perform daily activities without significant assistance. Research Purpose: To describe the level of functional independence in children with cerebral palsy at SLB-D YPAC Jakarta based on age, gender, type of cerebral palsy, gross motor function level, quality of life, and spasticity level. Methods: This study used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The WeeFIM instrument was employed, with a sample size of 62 children with cerebral palsy. Data were analyzed to determine the distribution of independence levels based on age, gender, type of cerebral palsy, gross motor function level, quality of life, and spasticity level. Results: The study results indicate that the level of functional independence in children with cerebral palsy varies depending on characteristics such as age, gender, type of cerebral palsy, gross motor function level, quality of life, and spasticity level. Conclusion: The majority of children with cerebral palsy exhibit a high level of dependency across all characteristics, including age, gender, type of cerebral palsy, gross motor function level, quality of life, and spasticity level. However, the level of functional independence in children with cerebral palsy also varies depending on individual factors within each characteristic.
