Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is one of the diseases with an increase in new cases in Indonesia, with the highest numbers in Central Java (158,194), West Java (151,832), and East Java (137,960). Based on data from the West Java Provincial Health Service in 2023, Bekasi City contributed the most HIV cases (630 cases). This study aims to analyze factors related to knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and transmission among Karang Taruna members in South Bekasi District. The research uses descriptive quantitative methods with a cross-sectional study design and data analysis using the Chi-square test. The research sample was 136 teenagers aged 15–21 years who were selected using simple random sampling. The instrument is in the form of a questionnaire which has been tested for validity and reliability, then distributed online. The results showed that age, gender, education, income level, accessibility of information sources, and peer influence did not have a significant relationship with HIV/AIDS knowledge (p-value > 0.05). On the other hand, employment status has a significant relationship (p-value=0.000). It is recommended that there be outreach in the work environment to educate about the prevention and transmission of HIV/AIDS to adolescents.
