Abstract

Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that requires rapid and precise intervention to improve patient survival. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is the primary procedure performed to restore blood circulation and breathing. This study aims to analyze the relationship between CPR duration and survival to hospital discharge in cardiac arrest patients at RSUD Tarakan, Central Jakarta. Using a retrospective cross-sectional study design, data were collected from the medical records of patients who experienced cardiac arrest from 2023 to October 2024. The results of this study, analyzed using Fisher’s exact test in the Emergency Room (ER), showed a p-value of 0.350; in the ICU, a p-value of 1.000; and in the inpatient ward, a p-value of 0.456, indicating that CPR duration has no significant relationship with survival to hospital discharge.. However, the findings suggest that CPR duration of less than 30 minutes provides a higher chance of survival. Longer CPR durations tend to decrease the likelihood of survival, although other factors, such as the initial heart rhythm, the speed of the medical team’s response, and the quality of CPR performed, also influence patient outcomes.
