Abstract
Eastern Indonesia is the region of Indonesia that has the lowest HDI in 2018-2023. The low HDI sequence reflects that the rate of human development in Eastern Indonesia is still lagging behind compared to other regions of Indonesia. requires special attention because it is faced with several challenges in improving the quality of life of the community. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence HDI in 13 Provinces in Eastern Indonesia for the 2018-2023 period. The data used came from the Central Statistics Agency and the Ministry of Finance, analyzed using a panel data regression approach using REM. This research found that the government spending variable in the education sector had a significant negative impact on HDI in 13 provinces in Eastern Indonesia, while the number of schools showed a significant positive effect on HDI in the same region, and the percentage of households that had access to adequate sanitation showed a positive effect. and significant to HDI. Overall, all of these variables simultaneously influence the HDI in 13 Provinces in Eastern Indonesia during the 2018 – 2023 period. The findings of this study are expected to be a basic reference for the government in forming government policies to increase government spending in the education sector, the number of schools, and access to proper sanitation in Eastern Indonesia.
