Abstract
Hemoglobin is the main component in red blood cells that functions to transport oxygen. Low hemoglobin levels can cause anemia, which adversely affects the health of primary school-age children. This study aims to determine the relationship between age, gender, iron intake, and nutritional status with the level of hemoglobin levels of primary school-age children at MIS Pasanggrahan, Tasikmalaya Regency. This study used a cross-sectional and observational analytic design with a sample size of 95 students selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a demographic data questionnaire, observation sheet, food consumption survey, and hemoglobin level examination using Easy Touch GCHb. Data were analyzed using chi-square test and odds ratio (OR) calculation. The results showed that the majority of students had normal hemoglobin levels (75.8%). There was no significant relationship between age (p=0.753; OR=0.689), gender (p=0.983; OR=0.870), iron intake (p=0.961; OR=1.016), and nutritional status (p=0.303; OR=1.172) with hemoglobin levels. This study concludes that age, gender, iron intake, and nutritional status do not have a significant relationship with hemoglobin levels in primary school children at MIS Pasanggrahan, Tasikmalaya Regency.
