Abstract

This research began with the author's curiosity regarding Gen Z's views about stock investment. This is due to the increase in the number of Gen Z investors which is also accompanied by an increase in losses experienced by investors from that generation. Thus, this research aims to determine Gen Z's views on understanding stock investment as part of their lifestyle. This research uses qualitative methods with a qualitative descriptive approach to understand in depth the experiences, perspectives and thought patterns of informants regarding stock investment in everyday life. Through in-depth interviews with two informants, this research revealed that stock investment is not only a means to achieve long-term financial goals but also helps shape character, such as patience, discipline, and courage in facing risks. Informants view stock investment as part of a lifestyle based on financial planning and self-development. Their learning process is influenced by access to digital information and education through social media and the social environment, which plays an important role in building their confidence as young investors.
