Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by an infectious agent and has caused the death of up to 1.30 million people. TB treatment is carried out using a combination of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (ATD). Although this treatment aims to cure, the use of ATD does not completely eliminate the risk of various side effects in patients, which can affect the sustainability of treatment. This study aims to determine the characteristics of pulmonary TB patients who experienced first-line ATD side effects at Leuwiliang Hospital. The variables in this study include sex, age, type of drug used, side effects of first-line ATD, time of occurrence of side effects, and results of first-line ATD treatment in patients who meet the restriction criteria. This descriptive research uses a cross-sectional study design and obtains secondary data through medical records. The results of this study showed that most patients who experienced ATD side effects were male (53.5%), with the dominant age group coming from adult age (26.3%) and middle age (26.3%). The majority of treatment used ATD in the form of fixed-dose combinations (67.7%). The most common side effects were gastrointestinal reactions (66.7%) with the incidence of side effects occurring more frequently in the first week to the third week of treatment (73.7%). The treatment outcomes were cured (50.5%) and completed treatment (47.5%).
