Abstract
Sectio Caesarea (SC) is the delivery of a fetus through an incision of the abdominal wall (laparotomy) and uterine wall (hysterotomy). It is usually done due to indications such as, preeclampsia, placenta previa, difficulty in childbirth, multiple pregnancies, fetal risk, delay in premature rupture of membranes with 85% occurring due to a history of SC, dystocia, fetal emergency, and abnormal presentation. This study aims to determine the relationship between SC indications (preeclampsia, malpresentation, and history of SC in previous delivery) and the incidence of SC at Pelni hospital in 2023. The method of this research is cross sectional. Data was obtained through medical records including mothers who gave birth with indications of preeclampsia, malpresentation, and previous SC history at Pelni Hospital in 2023. Data was collected by consecutive sampling with a total of 185 patients. Based on the chi-square test, this study obtained a p-value of 0.000 (P<0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between SC indications (preeclampsia, malpresentation, and history of SC in previous delivery) and the incidence of SC at Pelni Hospital in 2023. The OR between preeclampsia and malpresentation was 7.681, meaning that mothers who gave birth with preeclampsia had a tendency to do SC by 7.681 more than mothers with malpresentation. The OR between SC history and malpresentation was 46.375, meaning that mothers who gave birth with a history of SC had a tendency to do SC by 46.375 greater than mothers with malpresentation. Keywords: Caesarean section, Preeclampsia, Malpresentation, Previous SC history
