Abstract
Ojek online today is one of the transportation services that has become a public trust in various major cities in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta City. However, in the day-to-day there are a few obstacles that occur in online services, especially in the context of communication through applications. Both the driver and the customer of ojek online themselves are frequently experienced misunderstandings and barriers when communicating through the application. The sunderstandings and obstacles that arise are caused by various internal and external factors. This study aims to explain how the communication patterns run in the process of communication between ojek online driver and customer and what barriers occur in such communication based on the Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) Theory as well as the characteristics or aspects which contained in the theory. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods and field research types. Data collection is carried out by conducting in-depth interviews with research subjects consisting of several people who are informants. The results show that the ongoing communication between drivers and customers of ojek online through applications does not-yet fully to meet the aspects or characteristics contained in the Computer Mediated Communication Theory. (CMC). Those aspects are said to be unsatisfied because in fact some drivers or customers of ojek online still do not have a good communication ability, the performance of the application or the smartphone used is not optimal, the quality of the internet connection is sometimes unstable, and the message delivered by the driver or customer through the application is sometimes difficult to understand.
