Abstract
Indonesia's rapid socio-economic development has had a major negative impact on the environment. Indonesia's continuing urban infrastructure deficiencies have led to widespread traffic congestion and excessive pressure on water and electricity systems. Most of the solid waste generated by Indonesia's population is disposed of in landfills without further waste treatment. Indonesia and Germany affirmed their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the Paris Agreement, so the bilateral cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and Germany agreed to form the Green Infrastructure Initiative (GII) to realize sustainable development. This thesis aims to analyze and describe the implementation of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Germany through the Green Infrastructure Initiative, with an emphasis on green infrastructure projects in the field of public transportation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method, with primary data sources through interviews and secondary data sources through literature studies. The results of this thesis indicate that Indonesia is less active in bilateral cooperation with Germany, which is largely facilitated by GIZ, an organization that serves as an extension of the German government. In the process of planning and implementing cooperation, GIZ often helps Indonesia, but the role of the Indonesian government itself tends to be less than optimal. Indonesia should be more proactive in thinking about initiatives in cooperation with Germany.
