Abstract
Fundamentally, the global community exhibits varying levels of economic stability and preparedness in facing emerging challenges. While the upper-middle class can withstand these challenges, the lower-middle class, particularly in developing nations, may face new issues. Governments must act decisively to mitigate these disparities, preventing further adverse outcomes in the future. One critical approach is analyzing and enhancing a nation’s food security, as strengthening this aspect can alleviate hunger and prevent future crises. The global community, under the auspices of the United Nations (UN), has committed to addressing such issues through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger. In alignment with this global initiative, ASEAN, as a regional organization, is striving to realize food security by effectively collaborating through the ASEAN Integrated Food Security (AIFS) Framework and the Strategic Plan of Action on Food Security (SPA-FS), with a special focus on Vietnam, where a significant portion of the population is engaged in agriculture. The research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing secondary data sources. Data collection was conducted through document analysis. The data analysis process involved stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The findings reveal that ASEAN cooperation is characterized by a high level of solidarity, particularly in the readiness of its member states to respond when another country faces a food crisis. The various cooperative programs have provided focused and targeted solutions to each country’s challenges. The implementation of SDGs, especially by Vietnam, has been commendable, with the country achieving significant progress, culminating in its emergence as a major global rice exporter. This success serves as a model for other ASEAN countries that similarly rely on the agricultural sector, thereby advancing regional food security.
