Abstract

Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera L.) is a plant with various benefits in pharmacy or as an herbal plant with high antioxidant activity. This study was conducted to determine which solvent is the most optimal as an organic solvent to draw compounds in moringa leaves to get good antioxidants. This study used the Ultrasonic Assissted Extraction method to obtain moringa leaf extracts with a vaiety of organic solvents, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 70% ethanol. The results of total flavonoid content in each n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 70% ethanol are 10.6, 15.3, and 29.1 mgQE/gram, respectively. In addition, the results og the antioxidant test with the DPPH method in each solvent were 1590, 144.6, and 10,6, respectively. After obtaining these results, statistical tests of the data show that the data are normal and homogeneous and have a significant relationship, namely the more polar the higher the value of total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity. Based on the test results and SPSS, it can be concluded that 70% ethanol solvent is the most optimal solvent to extract compounds in total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity
