Abstract
Overnutrition is a prevalent issue among young adults. Body fat percentage serves as an indicator of overnutrition. Excess body fat percentage can lead to obesity, which poses physical problems and medical complications. This study aims to investigate the relationship between diet quality, physical activity, and nutritional status with body fat percentage before and during Ramadan fasting among nutrition students at UPN "Veteran" Jakarta. The study uses a cross-sectional design with stratified random sampling, involving 103 respondents. Data analysis includes chi-square tests, t-tests, and multiple logistic regression. The results indicate significant changes in diet quality, physical activity, and nutritional status before and during Ramadan fasting. There was a decrease in calorie intake and a shift towards healthier eating patterns during the fasting month. Physical activity tended to decrease during Ramadan. Nutritional status and body fat percentage also showed a decline during fasting. Bivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between diet quality , physical activity, and nutritional status with body fat percentage before and during fasting (p<0,05). Multivariate analysis indicated that nutritional status had the most significant relationship with body fat percentage. Students are advised to monitor their nutritional status and regularly measure body fat percentage, along with adopting a healthy lifestyle such as consuming a balanced diet and engaging in physical activity.
