Abstract
Overweight is a common nutritional issue among adolescents. The 2018 Riskesdas survey indicated a prevalence of overweight (11.2%) and obesity (4.8%) among adolescents. In Depok City, adolescents aged 16-18 had a prevalence of overweight (6.2%) and obesity (1.4%). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between peer influence, exposure to food information on social media, dietary patterns, and overweight among 15-18-year-old students at SMAN 6 Depok. The research design was cross-sectional, with 108 respondents from grades 10 and 11 selected using stratified random sampling. Data collection instruments included the Peer Pressure Questionnaire (PPSQ), Scale of Effect of Social Media on Eating Behavior (SESMEB), and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Univariate analysis showed an overweight rate of 33.3% at SMAN 6 Depok. Bivariate analysis using chi-square tests indicated significant associations between peer influence (p-value = 0.000) and dietary patterns (p-value = 0.000) with overweight among adolescents at SMAN 6 Depok. However, there was no significant association found between exposure to social media information (p-value = 0.681) and overweight among adolescents at SMAN 6 Depok. The study concludes that there is a relationship between peer influence and dietary patterns with overweight, while exposure to social media information does not show such a relationship among adolescents at SMAN 6 Depok. It is recommended to pay more attention to dietary patterns and the adolescent environment to reduce overweight.
