Abstract

Data from the Global Burden of Disease Study shows the incidence of uterine myoma from 1990 (225.67/ 100,000) to 2019 (241.18/ 100,000) has increased globally. As a national referral hospital, Fatmawati hospital has shown fluctuating cases within five years (2018-2022), with the highest number of cases in 2019 (2,342 cases). This study aims to determine the risk factors for the incidence of uterine myoma in women of reproductive age at Fatmawati General Hospital. This research apply an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative method with a cross-sectional design using secondary data from outpatients at Fatmawati Hospital from August 2022 – June 2023. Qualitative method with case studies through in-depth interviews with six informants selected using purposive sampling. The results showed that the most common types of uterine myoma cases were those with unspecified locations (70.6%) and those aged 47 years (5.4%). Bivariate results showed that the age factor had no relationship with the incidence of uterine myoma (p-value 0.836 > 0.05). Qualitative results show that health history and eating habits can be risk factors for uterine myoma. Women are expected to adopt a healthy lifestyle and immediately consult medical personnel if they are experiencing several symptoms as bleeding and severe pain during menstruation.
