Abstract
Stunting is a condition where a child's height, when measured, shows a z-score lower than -2 standard deviations. Overall, stunting is caused by several factors starting from pregnancy until after the child is born. Preparing an adolescent for adulthood is crucial to ensure they can contribute to creating a healthy and quality generation. Studies show a correlation between the incidence of stunting and the education level, knowledge, and self-efficacy of parents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family characteristics and self-efficacy among adolescents at SMK Kartini Bhakti Mandiri in preventing stunting risks. The study employs a cross-sectional design with a sample of 175 students. Data were collected through questionnaires covering variables such as age, gender, grade level, number of siblings, birth order, parents' educational level, parents' occupation, parents' income, and family type. The results indicate a significant relationship between mother's occupation, mother's income, and family type with adolescents' self-efficacy in preventing stunting. However, no significant relationship was found between age, gender, grade level, number of siblings, birth order, parents' educational level, and father's income with adolescents' self-efficacy. These findings suggest that the role of mothers and family type significantly influence the development of adolescents' self-efficacy in preventing stunting.
