Abstract

Hypertension is a disease with a high prevalence in Indonesia and is expected to continue to increase. Hypertension is called a silent killer because sufferers do not feel symptoms and it is detected after examination for other diseases. The elderly experience a decline in body organ function, making them susceptible to several diseases, causing them to take several medications at the same time. Therefore, it results in potential drug interactions. This study aims to identify potential antihypertensive drug interactions for geriatric patients inpatients at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in 2021-2023. Drug interaction analysis was analyzed using Stockley's Drug Interaction Handbook 9th edition and website-based Medscape. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with cross sectional data collection methods. Data collection was carried out retrospectively by looking at medical record data of hypertensive geriatric patients at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital for 2021-2023. Based on the drug interaction mechanism, there are 10 pharmacokinetic interactions, 37 synergistic pharmacodynamic interactions, 50 antagonistic pharmacodynamic interactions, and 18 interactions with unknown interaction mechanisms. Based on the severity of drug interactions, there are 106 moderate interactions and 9 major interactions.
