Abstract
In Indonesian politics, women are a minority of legislative members. The representation of Indonesian women in the legislative parliament is still less than the minimum percentage of 30%. One reason is that women are a backward group when making decisions. So it is necessary to use good communication, especially for female legislative members. This research aims to determine communication behavior both at the front and backstage of female legislative members of the Tangerang Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period. The research theory used is Erving Goffman's dramaturgical theory and uses qualitative methods. The data collection technique for this research used observation techniques at the Tangerang Regency DPRD office and interviews with four informants, namely Lisiawati Lase, Nonce Thendean, Aida Hubaedah, and Sri Panggung Lestari. The research results from this study found that the communication of female members of the Tangerang Regency DPRD when in formal forums was quite different from behind the scenes. When on the front stage or in formal forums, female members of the Tangerang Regency DPRD are very professional in following existing regulations. Starting from verbal communication that uses formal language, and topics of conversation, to non-verbal communication such as the uniforms used and the sitting distance between members. Another example: When the tense atmosphere gave rise to debate, a hand was hitting the table by one of the female members of the Tangerang Regency DPRD. Meanwhile, regarding communication behavior that occurs backstage, female members of the Tangerang Regency DPRD appear to be more relaxed, in both verbal and non-verbal communication. Judging from the language used, namely non-formal language, the topic of discussion, the clothes worn, and the tone and intonation of speech.
