Abstract

One of the main health problems in Indonesia is hypertension, because hypertension does not have clear symptoms but triggers other serious health problems so it is called a "silent killer". One of the factors that cause hypertension can be caused by stress. Stress accelerates the production of harmful compounds that have an impact on accelerating the heart rate and increasing blood pressure. This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between stress levels and blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in the Pasar Minggu Health Center Area. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional research design with Spearman's rho data analysis. The study population was all hypertension sufferers aged 17 to >65 years. A total of 36 samples were calculated based on the correlative analysis formula in this study with the sampling technique used was quota sampling. Data were collected using a demographic data questionnaire, DASS-14, blood pressure observation sheets and digital tension. The results showed a significant relationship between stress levels and blood pressure in hypertension sufferers with a p-value of 0.006 (p <0.05) and a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.449. It can be concluded that the level of stress experienced by hypertension sufferers has a significant impact on blood pressure, so it is hoped that awareness will be raised by creating a healthy lifestyle, good eating patterns and being able to manage stress well in keeping blood pressure under control.
