Abstract
The research focuses on discussing interpersonal communication towards peers among students in Jakarta who discuss toxic love relationships. This research aims to understand how interpersonal communication towards peers, especially among students in Jakarta, aids in the recovery from toxic love relationships. The interpersonal communication between peers that aids in this recovery is also examined. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive type using a case study approach. The data collection technique used is the Johari Window theory. The data was obtained from in-depth interviews with peers who were the subjects of the study. The results show that verbal communication skills are one of the supporting factors in helping peers recover from toxic love relationships, where there is openness towards peers and a desire to recover from toxic love relationships. This openness arises from the open area, seeing some of the problems faced, and some begin to open up. In the blinded area, they realize or are already aware of the toxic love relationship problems. In the hidden area, the personal area that is disclosed to peers impacts them, and in the unknown area, the effects and problems of toxic love relationships are realized but do not cause significant changes. Besides, there are also aspects of accuracy in expressing themselves, motivation to express themselves to peers, desire to share, intensity of storytelling, and depth of expressing themselves to peers. The interpersonal communication that occurs among peers can be done verbally or non-verbally and is essential for the recovery from toxic love relationships.
