Abstract
Background: A nucleus pulposus hernia (HNP) is a condition where the annulus fibrosus ruptures and causes protrusion of the nucleus pulposus in the intervetebral disc space . This causes compression on nearby nerve roots leading to pain in the lumbar region that radiates to the lower extremities especially when standing, sitting or bending. People who experience HNP will experience symptoms such as radiating pain, sensory disturbances, muscle weakness, limited scope of motion, and some activities that trigger radiating pain such as coughing, sneezing, and bending over. this study aims to determine physiotherapy management in HNP cases. Purpose of the case study: to find out how physiotherapy management in HNP cases at Rs Bhayangkara TK.I Polri. Design: the case study conducted is in the form of a case study containing patient data which includes patient identity, anamnesis results, physiotherapy examination, intervention, and evaluation. Results: physiotherapy management with the modality of Trancutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation, Microwave Diathermy, Mckenzie exercise and Bridging exercise in cases of lumbar HNP can reduce pain, increase muscle strength, increase the scope of joint motion and reduce spasm. Conclusion: Achieving the desired goal requires consistency in providing interventions and conducting home programs.
