Abstract

Background: The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (2023) and the World Disaster Reaction Campaign and UNESCO have determined Indonesia to be the 2nd (second) country in the world that is prone to natural disasters (Kurniawati & Suwito, 2019). Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), from January to October 2023, there were 3,056 natural disaster events. DKI Jakarta with 219 natural disasters, with the most natural disasters being floods. (National Disaster Management Agency, 2023). Preparedness is a series of activities that must be carried out to anticipate disasters through appropriate and efficient organization and action (National Disaster Management Agency, 2019). Teenagers are one of the younger generations who are responsible for helping prepare for future development. Adolescents are one of the categories of vulnerable groups most at risk of being affected by disasters. The involvement of teenagers in disaster preparedness is relevant because they have a significant percentage of the productive age population (Octastefani & Rum, 2019). One of the human resources in schools is students, as the largest human resources in schools, will be able to become a group that is ready and resilient in facing disasters (Dwiningrum et al., 2021). Results: Based on the bivariate Wilcoxon test carried out, the results showed that the disaster preparedness training intervention with 147 respondents had a significant influence on student readiness with a p-value <0.001 (p <0.05). Conclusion: There is an influence of Disaster Preparedness Training on Students' Readiness in Facing Flood Disasters at SMA Hang Tuah 1 Jakarta Keywords: Flood, Preparedness, Students
