Abstract
This research aims to explore the dynamics of public policy and community participation in waste management at Anyelir Waste Bank in East Jakarta. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using primary and secondary data from interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The increasing quantity and types of waste result in various social and environmental issues. DKI Jakarta faces similar challenges with high waste volumes and limited landfill space, putting pressure on the Final Waste Disposal Site (TPA). To address this issue, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented Governor Regulation No. 77 of 2020, which mandates waste sorting at the household level. The Anyelir Waste Bank in East Jakarta is one initiative to mitigate the adverse effects of waste on the environment. However, despite operating for ten years, this waste bank still faces significant challenges, particularly in terms of operational costs that rely on the sale of recycled materials. The government provides limited assistance, and this lack of support affects the efficiency and sustainability of the waste bank. The importance of community participation in waste management also remains a major challenge. Therefore, increasing public education, developing sustainable financial models, and strengthening cooperation among stakeholders are essential to creating an effective and sustainable waste management system in the future
