Abstract
Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and remains a significant global health issue. Managing TB treatment in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is particularly challenging due to the need to carefully consider interactions between anti-TB drugs (OAT) and oral hypoglycemic agents (OHO). This study aims to explore the impact of actual and potential interactions between Fixed-Dose Combination (FDC) OAT and OHO on treatment outcomes among newly diagnosed TB patients with type 2 DM, based on laboratory data including HbA1c, Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), and Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB) at RSUP Persahabatan in 2023. Conducted from January to May 2024 using a cross- sectional study design, the research involved 63 medical records meeting study criteria. Hypothesis testing utilized chi-square analysis. The majority of TB-DM patients at RSUP Persahabatan in 2023 were aged 45-59 years, female, and received FDC OAT. Statistical analysis indicated a significant association between OAT-OHO drug interactions and DM type 2 patient outcomes (p = 0.0001), with no significant relationship found for TB treatment outcomes.
