Abstract

The phenomenon of cross-cultural marriages between Indonesians and foreigners is increasingly widespread due to globalization which facilitates interactions between countries. This research aims to understand the dynamics of the Kalaweit family's intercultural communication with Laotians. The focus is on the interaction of an Indonesian-French multicultural family with Laotians during an adventure mission in rural Laos. The case study was taken from the Kalaweit family, namely Chanee Kalaweit, Nur Pradawati, Andrew Kalaweit, and Enzo Kalaweit through their YouTube video "Berpetang Sekeluarga ke Laos". This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a constructivist paradigm, collects data through documentation, and analyzes it using content analysis techniques. The results show that the intercultural interaction between the Kalaweit family and Laotians in the video is effective, following Joseph A. Devito's principles of intercultural communication, especially the principle of reducing uncertainty.
