Abstract
Postpartum depression is a condition where feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and anxiety appear more severe than the baby blues. In Indonesia, there is no special attention to the problem of postpartum depression in mothers after childbirth. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of postpartum depression in mothers in Pasar Kemis District, Tangerang Regency. The research study design used was cross sectional. The population in this study were postpartum mothers (2 weeks to 9 months postpartum) who visited the health center. Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted using the chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed that maternal age (p-value 0.013; POR = 5.267; 95% CI 1.495-18.55), family income (p-value 0.028; POR = 7.8; 95% CI 0.845- 55.141), negative attitude towards infants (p-value 0.021: POR = 0.221; 95% CI 0.063-0.769), and eating habits (p-value 0.038; POR = 4.083; 95% CI 1.184-14.079) are risk factors for postpartum depression with certain severity. Most postpartum women experienced mild depression and minimal symptoms (88.7%), while some women experienced moderate depression (10.4%) and severe depression (0.9%). It is necessary to carry out early detection of postpartum depression in postpartum women periodically as a preventive intervention effort.
