Abstract

This research aims to discuss the urgency of the emergence of the power of digital technology should be included in a country's foreign policy by implementing a techplomacy policy based on the concepts and theories of smart power, digital diplomacy, and techplomacy itself. The method used is descriptive qualitative using primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews, analysis of official documents, and literature studies. The author uses a four-stage interactive data analysis model according to Miles & Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data withdrawal/verification. The final result of this research shows that Indonesia needs to follow Denmark's steps by enacting a techplomacy policy that has been adapted to Indonesia's foreign policy model. Based on the EGDI (E-Government Development Index) ranking Indonesia ranks 77th out of 193 countries and on the WDC (World Digital Competitiveness) ranking Indonesia is ranked 45th overall out of 64 countries, both of these rankings are far from Denmark's position. Therefore, Indonesia needs several steps in achieving the techplomacy policy itself through a scheme with 3 paths, namely, the digital infrastructure acceleration path. Then, the path of regulatory innovation, by innovating its foreign policy. Finally, the path of equalizing the digital economy ecosystem, one of which is by increasing internet penetration and digital literacy.
