Abstract

In maintaining consumer trust, product quality is something that is very important. Therefore, companies are required to be consistent in maintaining product quality. The same thing applies to XYZ Convection where it is still necessary to maintain consistency in the quality produced because every month in the mukena production process there are still defects that appear and the percentage of defects each month exceeds the defect tolerance limit. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out what types of defects exist, what factors cause these defects to appear and suggestions for improvements that can be proposed in an effort to reduce the number of defects. From the research results, there are four types of defects in the mukena production process, namely scratched fabric, misprints, torn fabric and faded colors. The most common type of defect is scratched fabric. There are four factors that cause defects to appear, namely human factors, methods, materials and the environment. After statistical testing, only method and material factors had a positive influence on scratched fabric defects. The results of the FMEA analysis suggest improvements to the method factor, namely creating SOPs for production process activities. Proposed improvements for material factors are choosing the right supplier and having more than one trusted supplier and checking raw materials before the production process. A Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to measure the success of the proposals that have been given. The results of the Monte Carlo simulation are an increase in the sigma level of 0.254 from the current performance results with the three scenarios that have been carried out.
