Abstract

In the case of the KMP accident. NUSA PUTERA the incident began when the ship was about to carry out the loading process, starting with the entry of the first vehicle in the form of a HINO truck with a load of 20 tons. When part of the truck body entered the ship the truck driver heard a broken sound on the stern rampdoor. The truck driver also tried to put the truck into the ship, but because the position of the rampdoor began to fall towards the sea, the truck fell into the sea. The driver tried to save himself by jumping into the water, after looking at the ship it turned out that the hinge on the rampdoor had broken. Analysis carried out on the hinge area found that there was a gap between the hinge and the Ramp Door web so that an insert plate was installed which made the welding not thoroughly occur on the hinge, in the analysis also found corrosion and maintenance that was not carried out such as painting which was not carried out regularly. This study aims to analyze the strength of the Ramp Door structure under various vehicle load conditions to determine the maximum stress and safety factor. The method used is the FEM method with the help of finite element-based applications. The results showed that the maximum stress value for the Ramp Door Bow with MPV vehicles with an even load was 35.902 MPa. For SUV vehicles, the maximum stress under even load is 41.839 MPa. For Sedan vehicles, the maximum stress under even load is 31.23 MPa. For Commercial vehicles, the maximum stress under even load is 36.626 MPa. For small trucks, the maximum stress under even load is 71.033 MPa. For large trucks, the maximum stress under even load is 262.15 MPa. For Bus, the maximum stress under uniform load is 218.18 MPa. The highest safety factor value is for the Sedan vehicle type, with a value of 10.72. The lowest safety factor value is for the large truck vehicle type, with a safety factor value of 1.27. So it can be concluded in the analysis that has been carried out on the KMP Nusa Putera Rampdoor hinge that the damage that occurs is not due to strength factors but due to corrosion, welding and maintenance factors that are less noticed.
