Abstract
Incomprehension, limited resources, misinformation, and family double burden affect the blood sugar levels of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This has an impact on feelings of burden and feeling no concern, thus triggering poor blood sugar control behavior. This study aims to analyze family support on blood sugar control behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Rawa Tembaga Health Center, Bekasi City. The method is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The population was 1054 people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in January-March 2024. Sampling using purposive sampling technique obtained 102 respondents. This study used modified HDFSS and DSMQ questionnaires. Analysis using univariate and bivariate with the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between emotional support (p-value=0.039), information support (p-value=0.027), and appreciation support (p-value=0.033) on blood sugar control behavior. Meanwhile, instrumental support does not have a significant relationship (p-value=0.355) to blood sugar control behavior. It can be concluded that someone who has high family support can form good blood sugar control behavior of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Families are advised to participate in activities that can maintain blood sugar levels, such as exercise and eating balanced nutrition, so that patients can be more motivated.
