Abstract

Background: DM is a chronic disease that can affect all ages and genders. Objective: This study aims to investigate nursing care in dealing with Mr. A's family, especially Mrs. Y, especially in dealing with the health problem of diabetes mellitus in the RT 04 RW 02 area, Babakan Village, Ciseeng District, Bogor Regency. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a single-case study design. Information was obtained through interviews, observation, and document analysis. Results: The results of the study show that Mr. A's family, especially Mrs. Y, faces a number of challenges in managing diabetes mellitus. Factors, such as a lack of knowledge about the disease, unhealthy eating patterns, and limited access to health resources, affect the family's ability to provide appropriate care. Apart from that, the role of mentoring and emotional support for the family was also identified as an important factor in helping Mrs. Y overcome her health problems. The nursing interventions provided include education about diabetes mellitus management, healthy diet planning, medication management, and developing monitoring and self-care skills. Conclusion: Nursing care has a crucial role in helping Mrs. Y's family overcome the problem of diabetes mellitus. A holistic approach is needed, involving the family in planning and implementing care as well as providing continuous support.
