Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is one of endemic disease and serious health problem in Indonesia that has high mortality rate. Dengue has various of manifestation that require fast and precise diagnostic parameter. Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory marker that can be used to see the progressivity of dengue. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and the severity of dengue hemorrhagic fever in adult patients. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional approach in DHF patients at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in 2021-2023 that had fulfilled criteria. The data used is secondary data taken from medical records. The data were analyzed using Chi square and the result showed that p value = 0,000 (p <0,05) which indicates that there is a significant relationship between NLR and the severity of DHF in adult patients with 57.1% of DHF with warning signs or severe dengue patients have NLR <1. There is a relationship between NLR and the severity of DHF and the lower the NLR, the more severe the disease.
