Abstract

Pulmonary TB disease caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis bacteria is still one of the dangerous infectious diseases with the highest death rate in the world. Banten Province is in 4th position as the highest burden of TB cases in Indonesia with the most cases being in the city of Tangerang. This study aims to provide nursing care to pulmonary TB patients with the main problem of ineffective airway clearance at RSU South Tangerang City, which includes assessment, determining nursing diagnoses, nursing action plans, implementing nursing actions, carrying out nursing evaluations, and documenting the nursing care provided. The research method used is a case study with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, physical examination and documentation. The results of this study showed that there was a main problem in pulmonary TB patients, namely ineffective airway clearance related to airway hypersecretion or retained secretions. To overcome this problem, effective cough interventions are carried out. After carrying out nursing actions for 3 x 24 hours, the results of the evaluation showed that the nursing problem could be resolved, proven by the achievement of the goal of increased airway clearance and the criteria for effective cough results increased, sputum production decreased, breathing patterns improved, respiratory frequency improved, additional breath sounds decreased.
