Abstract

Background: DM is a metabolic disease that occurs due to high blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia which is caused by damage to beta cells or a lack of beta cells which results in a lack of the hormone insulin in the body. DM sufferers are at risk of experiencing complications of hypoglycemia, which results in instability of blood glucose levels. Therefore, the role of nurses in health efforts, especially the curative role in collaborating with other health workers to provide care for DM patients by providing insulin and education regarding the DM diet and physical activity, Diabetes Foot Exercises. Method: This case study research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach in the form of interviews, physical examination, observation and documentation. Results: The main problem found was the instability of blood glucose levels, with the Hyperglycemia Management plan and the results obtained after implementation were that one still often felt thirsty and urinated at night, and blood glucose levels had not improved. Conclusion: The main problem has not been resolved and planning continues with outpatient care, education about the importance of the DM diet and physical activity with Diabetes Foot Exercises.
