Abstract

Installation of a fire hydrant is a fire extinguishing system that is fixed and uses a pressurized water extinguisher media flowed through the pipes and fire hoses. Hydrant system consists of a water supply system, pump, piping, inlet and outlet couplings and hose nozzle. In calculating the hydrant and pump efficiency is determined by the many factors that must be taken into account since the beginning of the mature, ie all the things that caused so much loss that should not have happened. One of the subjects of this study is the adequacy of the pump power as an energy source to supply water hydrant when required, which power the pump must be able to meet these needs and is not too far in excess of that required. Therefore hydrant system should be designed in such a way as to minimize it as pipe bends, the possibility of blockage, and others. From the results of this study, the losses that occur can still be minimized so that the pump power consumption can be reduced. The calculations show that the pump is installed over design with a difference of about 4 HP.
