Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a condition in women with hemoglobin levels below 11.9% in the first trimester and second trimester or hemoglobin levels <10.5% in the second trimester of pregnancy. Anemia in pregnant women will be a serious impact both on the mother and fetus. Data from the Indonesian health ministry showed that the high rate of anemia in pregnancy have contributed to high rates of low birth weight (LBW) in Indonesia. The studies aimed to determine the relationship between anemia in pregnant women with low birth weight babies in West Jakarta district health centers development period of January, 1 2011- December, 31 st st 2011. This type of research is a kind of analytic research with cross sectional approach. The sample was 118 and the data obtained from the records medic of all mothers who gave birth in development districts in West Jakarta health centers. Data were processed using statistical applications. In accordance Chi-Square test results obtained X table with α0,05 amounted to 3,841, so that it can be concluded rejected where X2 count equal to 2.492 and X2 count is smaller than X2 2 table. conclusion from this study is that there is no a relationship between anemia in pregnant women with the incidence of low birth weight. Based on the results of these studies are expected to pregnant mothers to be able to keep her pregnancy and antenatal routine, so as to prevent the occurrence of anemia in pregnancy that lead to low birth weight.
