Abstract

The WHO data on 2011 estimates more than one billion people in the world are people with disability. People with disability are complex problem, because experienced mobility impaired, employment status, social relationships, participation, and mood. The assistive devices can minimize these obstacles. This research aims to understand the relation of assistive devices use with independence and quality of life of disability the lower extremity. This research uses analytic descriptive methods with the cross sectional approach. The number of respondents as many as 25 taken with non probability sampling techniques with a method of sampling saturated. Data obtained by the test were analysed using chi square with the interpretation (p < 0,05). The research results show that there is the relation of assistive devices use with independence (p = 0,000), physical health (p = 0,028), psychological health (p = 0,028), social relationships (p = 0,000), and environmental health (p = 0,028 ) in people lower extremity with disability in central defence ministry XXXIX the rehabilitation phase II year 2014.
