Abstract
In the labor market, unemployment remains a major unresolved issue in Indonesia and directly impacts human lives. The high unemployment rate indicates a low absorption of labor in the region. East Kalimantan is among the top 10 provinces with the highest investment realization. Over the past three years, the economic growth in East Kalimantan has experienced a significant increase. However, it still holds the highest unemployment rate among the provinces in Kalimantan. The discourse on relocating the new capital to East Kalimantan adds urgency to this research. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of economic growth, education, investment, and minimum wage on labor absorption in the province of East Kalimantan. Employing non purposive sampling techniques in the whole districts/cities of East Kalimantan from 2015 to 2022, a total of 80 data samples were used. The research employs panel data analysis by combining time series and cross-sectional data. The best model utilized is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), developed into Feasible Generalized Least Square (FGLS). The results indicate that economic growth, education, and investment have a positive and significant influence, while the minimum wage variable has a negative and significant impact. Partially, these variables significantly affect labor absorption. Keywords: Labor Absorption, Economic Growth, Education, Investment, Minimum Wage
