Abstract
This study intends to conduct an analysis in determining the effect of regional economic growth, human development index, minimum wage and investment value on employment opportunities in Java. The research was conducted using secondary data obtained through the publication of the Central Statistics Agency in 2015-2022. The data obtained were analyzed using panel regression techniques with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) accompanied by classical assumption testing and hypothesis testing in STATA 17. Studies show that the influence of the human development index on employment opportunities in Java Island is positive and significant. Meanwhile, regional economic growth, minimum wages and investment value contain negative and insignificant influences on employment opportunities. Simultaneously, these four economic factors contribute not too much in explaining the phenomenon of ups and downs of employment opportunities in Java. Based on the results obtained, the government is expected to design policies that are able to increase labor absorption through the provision of jobs and optimize large human resources in Java Island through programs to improve the quality of human resources. Further research is recommended to add data for the research year period and update other estimating variables that are considered to have a greater influence such as the number of businesses, the number of workers and foreign investment on employment opportunities in Java.
