Abstract

One of the main commodities that is the mainstay of plantation product exports in Indonesia is cocoa. Indonesia's cocoa production on average increases slightly every year. Most of Indonesia's cocoa production is exported abroad. Indonesian cocoa exports cover all parts of the world with Asia being the main market share. Indonesia is in fifth place as the largest cocoa exporter in the world, and the development trend of Indonesian cocoa exports in recent years has tended to increase. Apart from that, there are other economic variables that influence fluctuations in the volume of cocoa exports, where this research uses economic variables including price, GDP and exchange rate. In this case, the research aims to analyze the factors that influence fluctuations in Indonesian cocoa exports in recipient countries, namely Malaysia, China, India, the United States and the Philippines in 2012 – 2021. The number of observations in this research was 50 data, where the type of data used was secondary data obtained from the official website of the World Bank and the Bureau of Statistics. The data analysis technique used is the panel data regression analysis method and the random effect model as the selected model. The results of this research show that (1) Price has a significant negative effect on the volume of Indonesian cocoa exports in recipient countries. (2) GDP has a significant positive effect on the volume of Indonesian cocoa exports to recipient countries. (3) The exchange rate does not have a significant effect on the volume of Indonesian cocoa exports to recipient countries.
