Abstract
ACL Injury: A prevalent, severe, and costly orthopedic condition affecting athletes. Investigating the correlation between age, BMI, and occupational history with the severity of ACL injuries at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Method: This quantitative analysis adopts a cross-sectional design, examining 121 medical records. Results: The study reveals no significant association between age (p = 0.633), BMI (p = 0.953), and occupational history (p = 0.126) with the severity of ACL injuries. However, age (OR = 1.608), BMI (OR = 1.024), and occupational history (OR = 1.853) still contribute to an increased risk and severity of ACL injuries. Conclusion: Based on a study of 121 medical record samples regarding the relationship between age and BMI with the severity of ACL injuries in both general patients and military personel at Gatot Soebroto Central Army Hospital in Jakarta from 2021 to 2022, no statistically significant relationship was found among these three risk factors and the severity of ACL injuries. The lack of influence from these risk factors may be attributed to the majority distribution of patients, which was more prevalent in groups that, theoretically, would not increase the risk factors or exhibited insignificant differences in distribution between groups. However, the research results also indicate that age, BMI, and occupational history can increase the risk of more severe degrees of injury in patients.
