Abstract

The ownership of alter accounts on Twitter is becoming increasingly popular and is used for self-expression, particularly in the context of pornography, thereby expanding the dissemination of pornographic content on the Twitter platform. This study aims to investigate the extent of self-disclosure by alter account users and to map their self-disclosure according to the Johari Window model. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data was collected from four informants selected through a snowball method and the alter account followers. Data analysis followed the four stages outlined by Miles & Huberman: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing/verification through member checking. Research into pornographic alter accounts on Twitter identified behavior that can be considered deviant. Alter accounts on Twitter are public, making it possible to find content such as photos, videos, and sexual stories in their posts. Nevertheless, users of alter accounts also use this platform to share hobbies, preferences, and personal emotions. Users tend to disclose personal information from various angles, in line with the Johari Window concept, with a dominance in the open area, reflecting self-disclosure behavior. The advice that researchers can offer is that when using Twitter, it is essential to be aware that excessive self-disclosure through social media carries its own risks. Therefore, users need to be cautious when sharing specific information.
