Abstract
Obesity is a condition in which the intake and expenditure of energy are imbalanced over a certain period of time, leading to excessive accumulation of fat in the body. The DKI Jakarta province occupies the first position for the highest rate of obesity among adolescents aged 13-15 years in Indonesia. The factors that can influence obesity is sosioeconomic (age, gender, parent’s level of education and parent’s work), smoking behavior) and risky eating habits such as sweet foods, sweet drinks, salted foods, fatty/fried foods, soft drink, energy drinks and instan food. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between risk food consumption and the occurrence of obesity among adolescents aged 13-15 years in DKI Jakarta in 2018. Design of this study is a cross-sectional using secondary data from Riskesdas 2018 survey with sample size of 597 adolescent aged 13 -15 years old as respondent. Bivariate analysis using chi square test and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. The result showed that mother’s level of education and energy drinks consumption having relation with the obesity in adolescent. In multivariate analysis, it is known that the variable that the most dominantly statistically influences, the occurrence, of adolescent is mother’s level education, with an OR value of 1,895. This means that mothers with low education have a 1,895 times higher risk of having teenage childern with obesity compared to highly educated mothers.
