Abstract
Hypertension or commonly called high blood pressure is a condition when a person's systolic blood pressure is ≥140 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure is ≥90 mmHg after repeated examinations (Unger et al., 2020). According to data from the World Health Organization, there are 26.4% or around 972 million people worldwide suffering from hypertension. It is likely that by 2025 this figure will increase to 29.2%. Of the 972 million people with hypertension, there are 333 million in developing countries, including Indonesia and an estimated 7.5 million deaths are caused by hypertension worldwide (Kumanan, Guruparan & Sreeharan, 2018). One of the effects of hypertension is headache and nape. In handling it, nurses provide non-pharmacological therapy, namely by providing complementary therapy to overcome pain problems and reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Complementary therapy applied in this study is a combination of music therapy and slow deep breathing. This scientific work aims to analyze the effectiveness of giving complementary therapy a combination of slow deep breathing and music therapy in overcoming the problem of acute pain nursing and lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the inpatient room of the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital. The results of this study after the intervention of slow deep breathing and music therapy for three days once per day in 15-20 minutes, it was found that there was a decrease in the pain scale and a decrease in blood pressure in both treated patients and resume patients.
