Abstract
White tea and green tea are drinks that are well known in the world and have a high antioxidant content of flavonoid compounds that are associated with lowering blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in the effect of white tea and green tea on postprandial blood glucose levels. The method used in this study is an experimental study design with 10 healthy adults as the subject. There were three groups in this study, the first is the control group which only consumed pure glucose, then treatment group 1 which consumed glucose that coincided white tea and treatment group 2 which consumed glucose that coincided with green tea. Measurement of blood glucose response was carried out using the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) method. The results of the intervention showed that the average blood glucose levels of the white tea and green tea treatment groups were lower than the control group. The results of the AUC area paired t-test also showed that the white tea (p=0.001) and green tea (p=0.004) treatment groups were significantly different and lower than the control group. The results of the calculation of %PKGD were 35,74% in white tea and 47,05% in green tea. So, it can be concluded that the consumption of white and green tea is effective in lowering blood glucose levels. For comparison, green tea has greater effectiveness in lowering blood glucose levels.
