Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a brief pain before or during menstruation that often complain by women. Dysmenorrhea that occurs in adolescents has an impact on decreasing learning activity and concentration thus induced them to skip school. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in adolescents at SMA Negeri 4 Bekasi City. This study used a cross-sectional design with proportional random sampling with a population of class X and XI students and a sample of 128 students. Data analysis used univariate analysis, bivariate with chi square and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between physical activity (POR: 2.42; 95% CI: 1.06 – 5.49), menstrual duration (POR: 3.01; 95% CI: 1.32 – 6.85) and stress (POR: 5.15; 95 % CI: 1.89 – 14.04) with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in adolescents at SMA Negeri 4 Bekasi City. Stress is the most influencing factor with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in adolescents (POR: 5.15; 95% CI: 1.89 – 14.04), meaning that women who experienced stress have a 5.15 times greater chance of experiencing dysmenorrhea compared to women who do not experience stress.
